10/3/2015Iran Bans Veterinary Diclofenac for Livestock Diclofenac has been scratched from the list of Iran’s approved veterinary drugs
DOE--05 October, 2015--Following Iran’s Signature on MoU (Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation of Migratory Birds of Prey in Africa and Eurasia), and obtaining information from international, experienced specialists on the critical situation of “Declofenac” drug for the vultures, the Iranian Department of Environment (DOE) has banned exporting, importing, producing, and any veterinary use of Declofenac is from now on prohibited in Iran, scratching Diclofenac from the list of Iran’s approved veterinary drugs.

As a vast country in the region, Iran hopes this action would be effective not just for the vultures but also for the large variety of raptors’ conservation. DOE has announced this achievement was made with the cooperation ofthe Iranian Department of Environment and the Department of Veterinary alongside with the non-government institute, Tarlan Ornithology group.
