Paleontology Geology Section
This section has the duties of developing paleontology indicators, research priorities with emphasis on Department of Environment Protected Areas, collection, identification and classification of geological samples. It also has the goal of collection,identification and classification of geological samples,promoting conservation potential sites for geological significance, developing criteria and guidelines for transporting paleontological samples, identifying  areas of valuable geological zones and developing conservation and collecting plans , processing of rocks and fossils for the preparation and identification of samples in the laboratories , writing, translating and editing of books, articles and scientific reports .
Projects
1. Exploration, extraction, identification and study of vertebrate fossils in Lorestan and Maragheh regions .

2. Study and Improvement (reconstruction) of Chabahar Whale Skull Fossil .

3. Studying and identifying the forest species of the Meshkinshir tree trunks and registering it as a Natural National Phenomena .

4. Collection, study and identification of various invertebrates, plants fossils and also stones and minerals in line with museum activities .

5.
Re-identification, measuring and providing further information on zoological specimens  in exhibition section and scientific collections  of the National Museum of Natural History ( MMTT) .

6.
Brushing, repairing and pests treatment of the  zoological specimens  in exhibition section and scientific collections  of the National Museum of Natural History ( MMTT) .
